Tower of London

The White Tower

Originally built to instill fear and submission in the citizens of London and deter foreign invaders, the iconic White Tower now stands as a symbol of London and Britain, overlooking the River Thames. Inside, you'll find the world's oldest visitor attraction, The Line of Kings. This exhibit features a line of wooden horses with vivid colors and wild expressions, amidst majestic suits of armor. The collection has murky beginnings as the Horse Armoury and is a mix of propaganda and fantasy, making it the longest-running visitor attraction in the world.

 The White Tower

Royal Beasts

For 600 years, wild and exotic creatures were held captive here for the entertainment of Kings and Queens. Sculptures of lions, baboons, an elephant, and even a polar bear depict these creatures. Discover how they came to be at the Tower and what eventually happened to them in a fascinating exhibit in the Brick Tower. Learn about their care and feeding, as well as various unfortunate incidents when the public got too close.

The Tower's Mint

For over 500 years, the Mint at the Tower produced the majority of the country’s coins. Explore its vast history, including Isaac Newton's efforts to eliminate counterfeiters during his tenure as Warden of the Mint, Edward I's harsh punishments for tampering with coins, Elizabeth I's restoration of coinage after Henry VIII’s meddling, and Charles II's rejection of Commonwealth money.

Beefeater Tours
